The Dane County Board of Supervisors is a body of government comprising 37 elected supervisors from each of the
districts in the county. The Board acts similarly to the state legislature in that in is the policy-making
body of the County government. It establishes county ordinances, levies taxes, passes laws concerning
law enforcement and appropriates money for services.
The following link lists the candidates for the 2008 County Board of Supervisors election. The
candidates are ordered by the district that they are running in.

The County Board typically meets twice a month. The meetings are open to the public with the

The County Board delegates certain government functions and services to committees and commissions.
For example, the finance committee is responsible for all expenditures, tax collection and bonding in
Dane County. These committees then make recommendations to the Board on appropriate resolutions,
