Board of Health for Madison and Dane County
Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Health for Madison & Dane County governs Public Health - Madison & Dane County, provides supervision to the Director, and assures the enforcement of state and local public health laws and regulations. Subject to approval of the Madison City Council and the Dane County Board of Supervisors, it may adopt rules necessary to protect and improve public health, determine service priorities and assign funding levels to those priorities, and enter into contracts for the provision of public health services.
