Logo guidelines for grant recipients
The Dane County Cultural Affairs logo contains two parts: 1) the symbol (Dane
County Cultural Affairs laurel wreath), and, 2) the word mark (the name DANE
COUNTY CULTURAL AFFAIRS), set stacked and centered in letter-spaced Trajan
typeface. The typeface, size and proportional relationship of type to the
symbol and letter spacing have been carefully arranged to be legible when
reproduced at a small scale. The logo should not be reproduced smaller than
one inch in vertical height.
Signature color
The Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission’s signature lavender color is
PMS 535. Grant recipients may reproduce the logo in black.
Origins of our logo
UW-Madison Professor of Art Phil Hamilton created the commission logo in 2004.
His stylized laurel wreath draws upon the ancient Greek symbol of victory
and distinction. The Trajan lettering replicates the inscription chiseled
into the base of the Trajan Column in Rome during the first century AD.
