Dane County Townships and Municipal Civil Divisions
Explanation: The above map shows the difference between the municipal civil divisions (cities, villages and towns) and the townships in Dane County. The township boundaries (red lines) are fixed, while the municipal civil division boundaries frequently change as cities and villages annex land. The muncipal civil division boundaries shown here are current as of June 13, 2002. Note that town boundaries generally follow township boundaries, except in the northwest corner of the county, where the boundary between the towns of Black Earth and Mazomanie is not the same as the boundary between T09N, R06E and T08N, R06E.
