In the spring of 2000,
the Dane County Land Information
Office coordinated the
acquestion of Census year
digital aerial photography or
orthophotography, across Dane
County. Fly Dane 2000 was
a unique project that built on a
partnership of local
municaplities, county
departments, stqte and federal
agencies, and utility companies.
Fly Dane 2000 produced higher
resolution digital imagery and a
more detailed Digital Terrain
Model (DTM). Other poject
compnonents included ehancements
to the county survey control
network, the development of a
survey control database, and the
development of other ortho
derived products such as
hydrographic network and road
centerlines.
The project resulted in a long
term voluntary partnership that
continues to allow participants
to pool their resources for
futre orthophotography product
updates.
