  Fly Dane 2005 - Description

The Fly Dane Partnership is in the beginning stages of the 2005 orthophotography project.  A project planning workgroup was formed with representation from the county and regional Fly Dane partners.  The workgroup proposals were reviewed by the partnership and approved by the Dane County Land Information Office Committee.

Fly Dane 2005 Project Plan:

Imagery
Develop 1-foot resolution black/white imagery countywide.
Develop 6-inch resolution black/white imagery in areas specified by partners.  This may result in more or less 6-inch coverage than 2000
The county is currently investigating the acquisition of 1-meter, leaf on, color orthoimagery through FSA for those interested in color photography.  This data would be available through normal county GIS data distribution processes.  This would not be part of the Fly Dane suite of products.

Terrain updates
Provide option to update terrain model, at partner expense, to areas of significant change (ex: new subdivision).  Updates would be in ¼ section increments for 2' contours and 1-section increments for 4' contours.

Building footprints
County will develop a building footprint data set and make it available through normal county GIS data distribution processes.  This would not be part of the Fly Dane suite of products.
For communities that acquired footprints in 2000, the county would swap a 2005 update for inclusion of existing 2000 data in new countywide coverage.

Additional products
Continue to provide contract flexibility for partner to pay for add-on's (2' contours, planimetrics, etc.).

The Fly Dane Partnership is open and ongoing.  New partners are welcome to join the 2005 project.  If you're interested in more information or on becoming a member please contact Fred Iausly.
