How Do I Use DCiMap?

What is DCiMap?

DCiMap is Dane County’s online geographic information system (GIS).  It provides interactive mapping capability to view and query map and database information.  DCiMap is “GIS lite” – designed for simple geographic queries and reports; it does not replace the GIS software used for more rigorous analysis.  Check the web links on DCiMap’s main page to learn more about GIS data and technology.

DCiMap can help you answer questions such as:

* What are the lot dimensions of the property?
* What subdivision is the property in?
* What is the zoning district?  Does the parcel have a conditional use permit?
* Where and what types of traffic incidents have occurred?
* What does the aerial photograph show about this property?

How do I get started?

Internet users will be able to access DCiMap without a login account.  If you have an AccessDane login account, you may use it with the DCiMap application.  Information on AccessDane public agency and subscription accounts is available on the AccessDane website:

          Public agency access – http://accessdane.co.dane.wi.us/html/community.asp
          Subscription access - http://accessdane.co.dane.wi.us/html/professional.asp

You can reach the DCiMap application two ways….

1 – In Internet Explorer, type in dcimap.co.dane.wi.us for the Internet address.  This shortcut will take you directly to DCiMap.

2 – From the AccessDane list of services, select the link to DCiMap:

Moving between DCiMap and the AccessDane parcel search module

Internet sessions periodically time out.  In most cases, you may use DCiMap's reset button to restore your session.

Privacy Policy

The AccessDane privacy policy allows individual property owners to opt out of name publication on the Internet.  For this reason, owner information is limited in DCiMap.  Use the link to the AccessDane parcel search module for owner information details..
