Quarter-Quarter Section Identifier- Within each quarter section, there are four quarter-quarter sections containing many different parcels. The first four digits of the quarter-quarter section identifier uniquely indicates the parcel and its quarter-quarter section.  The table above shows the parcel numbering system within a section. Note that there is a different numbering scheme for platted (P) and unplatted (U) lands.

The first four digits of the quarter-quarter identifier (0928) indicate that the sample parcel is platted and is within the Northeast 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section 23 in Township 07N, R09E. This quarter-quarter section is highlighted in the table above.

Check Digit Number

the last digit of the parcel number is a computer calculated check factor.  This number is not needed to search DCiMap.

Townships are part of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) established by Congress in 1785 to manage and convey ownership interests in land.  Municipal civil divisions such as towns may or may not be coincident with survey townships.
