GIS/LIS Outreach and Coordination
The Land Information Office is part of the Wisconsin Land Information Program and serves as a regional resource for the modernization of land records and the effective development, maintenance, and use of shared geographic and land information system resources in Dane County.  The Land Information Office:
  • provides local leadership and expertise related to land information activities;
  • fosters partnerships and coordinates related projects with other agencies;
  • develops digital data, maps, and databases;
  • provides access to geographic land information and projects; and develops and supports geographic and land information systems for use in Dane County government.

Please feel free to contact us for more information about Dane County GIS or land records modernization, GIS maps and data, GIS training, or to share regional project information.

Regional Projects
  Fly Dane
    The Fly Dane Partnership is currently planning the next orthophotography project.  A project planning workgroup was formed with representation from the county and regional Fly Dane partners.  For more information, see Fly Dane.

  Enterprise GIS Migration
    The LIO initiated a project to migrate and implement a number of critical GIS components to further land records modernization and the establishment of an enterprise-wide system.  This was driven by the need to stay current with changes in technology, better serve the County's growing demand for and sophistication in use of GIS, and better integrate GIS with County business information systems.  Critical technical components that was migrated include enterprise GIS data layers, workstation ArcInfo software licenses, desktop ArcView software licenses, and priority GIS data maintenance and end-user application.  Particular GIS data maintenance applications that was migrated included for parcel maintenance, address maintenance, and farm planning and tract/field maintenance.
