Class projects and/or service learning projects can be arranged for middle school, high school and university or technical school students. Projects are individually designed, based on the needs and interests of the class and the Parks Department.

Classes can do projects in the natural areas or developed parks. Research projects are best done in connection with a class for which students receive credit. This provides a deadline that the researcher must meet. This way the student/class is most likely to finish the project.

Examples of past class projects include:

• Designing a new logo for the Parks Department
• Designing and evaluating user surveys
• Field work
• Watershed studies
• Surveying
• Management plans
• Master plans (done as senior theses in the School of Landscape Architecture)
