Friends of McCarthy Park

McCarthy Youth & Conservation Park is located in the Town of Sun Prairie, between the city of Sun Prairie and the village of Cottage Grove. The park began with a donation of 180 acres by the late Russell and Ella McCarthy to provide youth and conservation activities. The park contains woods and open areas and is currently under development.

The Friends of McCarthy Youth & Conservation Park exist to support the implementation of the park’s master plan. The master plan calls for extensive involvement of the local community in order to get things done. Plans include trails, picnic areas, rustic campgrounds and a horse camping area, playground, ponds, a youth activity center and prairie restorations. They have sponsored several Youth Service Day projects at the park and are involved both in projects at the park and in getting community support for the park, including fundraising. The Bank of Sun Prairie, Tuscarora, Inc. and the Sun Prairie Youth & Families Commission are among local supporters.

Contact the Friends of McCarthy Youth & Conservation Park through Debbie Jacobs at 608-839-3977 or 608-839-5783.
