History of Parks
Responsible to: Parks Director
Objective: To preserve the history
of a particular park property
Responsibilities: Compile a written report documenting
the history of a park property, including its position in the context of the local area
and history, past ownership, acquisition, geographic and/or geologic features, other
distinguishing features, and any other interesting and/or unique detail.
Qualifications: Ability to research and use source
documents, conduct interviews and compile a written report. Ability and experience in
writing clearly.
Training & Preparation: Meet with park staff to
determine scope of project, available source materials, and any leads. Park Department
source documents may be used at the department or photocopied.
Commitment: Completion of the
project, date negotiable.
Evaluation: Verbal/written
Benefits: Preserve Dane County history and provide important information to the community, enhance resume; publication in "ACTION", the Adult Conservation Teams newsletter or elsewhere.
