May Flower Day is a major youth event, during which we plant up to 3,000 wildflower seedlings in one of our Dane County parks. These plants have been propagated and grown by volunteers, sometimes using seeds that have been collected and cleaned by volunteers.
Youth groups, scouts, families and other interested people are invited to join this activity. Adult volunteers are on hand to answer questions, help the kids and keep things running smoothly.
Over the years close to 18,000 wildflower seedlings have been planted at Lake Farm Park during May Flower Day. If youre interested in helping with weed control in these plantings, check out the "Prairie Foster Parents" information found under "In the Natural Areas".
In order to have time to take care of these plants, May Flower Day is going on a biannual schedule. The next date for May Flower Day will be in the year 2000. Plants for that event will be propagated in early 1999. Watch this page for details about May Flower Day 2000.
