Uses
The Lussier Family Heritage Center was built and funded to interpret the human and natural heritage of
Lake Farm Park, the Nine Springs E-Way, and the surrounding region. This multi-use, educational, and
interpretive facility will serve a diverse population in Dane County by providing opportunities for
youth and adult learning, volunteerism, outdoor recreation, and special events. The following policies
have been established to assure fair usage and maximum enjoyment. Your observance of these policies
and regulations is greatly appreciated.
Any group who uses the Lussier Family Heritage Center is responsible for ensuring compliance with
the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and all other applicable federal, state and local laws.
User Group Classifications

Rental rates vary according to the user group classification. Groups are defined as either
conservation/heritage, volunteer, public, civic or social organizations, governmental, or private.
- Group I -
Land and Water Resources Department, Adult Conservation Team,
Parks Support Groups, and other Dane County departments per written agreement on file. This group
pays no deposits or fees Monday through Friday for up to one use per month. Thereafter they will
follow the Group II fee schedule. All group I users are required to pay a $45.00 setup fee for
use of the facility, unless doing their own setup.
- Group II -
Local City, County, State, and Federal governments engaged in non-fundraising
business meetings or events. (See Fee Schedule)
- Group III -
501C Non-profit groups, neighborhood associations, volunteer-based community
groups, and civic organizations, which are not using the facility for a fundraising
event. (See Fee Schedule)
- Group IV -
Private individual or group events, such as parties, weddings, or business
meetings. For-profit businesses or organizations. Groups I, II and III who rent the facility to
engage in for-profit or fundraising activities. (See Fee Schedule)
Description of Facility

The Lussier Family Heritage Center is an air conditioned, multi-level building located within the
Capital Springs Centennial State park and Recreation Area, Lake Farm Park Unit. The upper-level room
is carpeted with cedar paneled walls and room darkening shades. The 1,000 square foot reception area,
with stone fireplace, may be used along with this room.
The lower level, also carpeted, has a rustic cedar décor and opens up to a walkout brick patio
with picnic tables; children's play equipment and access to nature trails that meander through the
park's grasslands and sedge meadows.

The area outside of the Center may be used in a variety of ways. All applicable rules for renting
and reserving the Center will apply to rental of the grounds unless otherwise specified. (All
applicable rules for governing Dane County Parks will also apply to the Lussier Family Heritage
Center grounds).

- A. Reservations
Reservations are required by all groups wishing to rent the Lussier Family Heritage Center. The
Center is available for rental 7 days a week. All reservations are made by calling the Lussier
Family Heritage Center Office at 224-3604, Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 4:30.
- B. Fees, Deposits And Forfeitures
All fees are billed immediately after the reservation is made. Fees are payable by CASH, CHECK,
VISA or MASTERCARD. There is no down-payment process. Checks should be made payable to the Lussier
Family Heritage Center and returned with the signed contract.
A key/building deposit of $250.00 is required for all evening and weekend events. The key and room
deposit will be refunded within 10 working days after the event if the key has been returned and
the building left in good condition, not requiring extra clean up. Extra clean up will be charged
to the users and be deducted from the room and key deposit fee. If charges are more than $250.00,
the user will be billed the additional charges.
- C. Cancellations
If a cancellation occurs for any reason, all fees paid shall be returned, less 20% to cover the
cost of administration. The only exception to this policy will be if a cancellation occurs within
two months of the reservation date, which shall cause the entire amount of all fees paid to become
forfeit, unless the reserved space is rented to another individual or group for the same time
period.

- A. Curfew
All events must end by 10:00 PM during the week. All weekend evening events must conclude by 11:00
PM. Users are allowed 45 minutes for clean up after the event.
- B. Smoking Policy
There is no smoking in the Lussier Family Heritage Center. Guests that wish to smoke may do so on
the deck or grounds.
- C. Caterers Policy
You may contract directly with the caterer of your choice. Caterers must complete a Caterer
Contract two weeks prior to your event and pay a fee of 10% (Excluding Tax & Tip) of the total
food bill directly to the Lussier Family Heritage Center. Potluck is an option available to
groups of sixty (60) or less.
- D. Alcoholic Beverages
The consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted during scheduled events. A beverage permit
will be issued through the building contract process and added to the total rental fee. No sales
of alcohol are allowed on the premises or grounds.
- E. Storage
In general, storage of any equipment or other accessory items belonging to quests beyond the
rental-reserved time is not permitted.
- F. Decorating
The use of nails, screws, tape, tacks or the like to fasten decorations or other materials to
walls, doors or from the ceiling is strictly prohibited. The use of glitter, confetti,
smoke/fog machines are not allowed.
- G. Candles
Candles are allowed only if the flames are enclosed in a glass covering.
- H. Use of Kitchenette
The kitchen area may be used by lessee and caterers. The facility is solely a prep area and
cannot be used for major meal preparation.
Caterers will share in the responsibility for the use of the premises. All caterers will be
charged 10% of total food bill excluding tax and tip.
Users that need to use the kitchenette will be charged a fee of $25.00.
It is expected that the kitchenette will be left in the same condition it was in before the
schedule event. Any damages or extra cleaning will be billed to the users.
- I. Cleaning
Individuals and/or groups doing their own setup will be responsible for cleaning the chairs
and the tops of tables after their event. Tables and chairs should then be stored on the carts
provided. Lessee will be responsible for mopping up spills (beer, pop, etc.), for all damages
to building and furniture, and any extra cleaning. Lessee will be responsible for removal of
their tablecloths, wall decorations, and other personal equipment.
Additional cleaning charges due to RED WINE spills on carpet will be deducted from
the building/key deposit or billed to the user.
All recyclable cans and bottles should be discarded in the receptacles marked for cans and
bottles. All other disposables shall be place in the trash receptacles provided or, if
necessary, additional garbage bags, and placed in lobby area.
On departure, all lights are to be turned off (including bathrooms, entrance way and halls)
and all doors are to be locked.
- J. Outside Rental Items
All equipment/party accessories being rented from outside vendors must have prior approval of
center manager, and may be allowed subject to scheduling conflicts with other events.

Review and Amendment Procedure

It is recognized that as conditions change these "Policies and Procedures" will need to be reviewed
and possibly amended to reflect those changes or to address omissions, which have become apparent.
At such time the Dane County Parks Commission shall review any proposed amendment and make a
recommendation regarding the change.
