Phil's Woods
6827 North Dunlap Hollow Road
Mazomanie WI 53560
Town of Roxbury
Features:
Phil's Woods is named for Philip LaFollette, three-time Governor of Wisconsin. His widow, Isabel
LaFollette, donated Phil's Woods to the State of Wisconsin. It was too small for development as a
State Park so the property was passed on to the Dane County Parks as a natural resource area. You
may park and walk to view the 37 acres of natural woods and meadow. The Baraboo Bluffs and Sauk
Prairie are visible from the western field. Phil's Woods can be reached by driving west on US Highway
12 from Madison and south one and one-and-one-quarter miles on Dunlap Hollow Road. Watch carefully for
the sign, as access is somewhat rustic.
