Marcella Schumacher Pendall, daughter of early settlers on the land, donated Schumacher Farm to the
County in 1978. This 117-acre site is an outdoor museum representing local farm life during the 1920s-30s.
The park features a 10-acre prairie restoration, farmstead with spacious and shady grounds, and related
activities. The park is open year round during daylight hours for picnicking, strolling,
cross country skiing and volunteer opportunities. The building and grounds may be reserved for social
and professional gatherings. Programming and museum development are sponsored by the Friends of Schumacher
Farms, and include heirloom gardening, educational field trips, prairie tours, old farm machinery
restoration, building restorations, and special public events reminiscent of rural culture of that time
period. Membership in the Friends is encouraged and open to all. For inquiries and information on
up-coming public events, go to www.schumacherfarmpark.org
, check the kiosk near the farmhouse and barn, or contact the park office at (608) 849-4559. Schumacher
Farm is located six miles north of Madison and one mile east of Waunakee on SH 19-113.
