Chapter 10 Revision Task Force

The Task Force for Prioritized Revision of Chapter 10 (Zoning) is seeking your ideas and suggestions to improve the Dane County Zoning Ordinance.

Current Zoning Ordinance Amendments In Progress

The task force is continuing its work on ordinance amendments for the following priority revisions:

1. Farmland preservation ordinance revisions. Town feedback is requested on draft changes to the A-1EX, A-4, and A-B districts. The changes are proposed in order to meet state requirements for certification of the county’s farmland preservation zoning ordinances. State certification is is necessary to ensure Dane County farmers remain eligible for state farmland preservation tax credits.
2. Communication tower ordinance revisions. The Task Force will be recommending changes to the ordinance in three phases. Town feedback is requested on phase I draft changes to the administrative provisions of the tower ordinance.
3. Revise commercial zoning districts including to support mixed residential / commercial uses and neighborhood-scale small business uses.
4. Develop an ordinance regulating wind energy systems - currently on hold pending state action on wind turbine siting standards. Related documents:
