Chapter 10 Revision Task Force

The Task Force for Prioritized Revision of Chapter 10 (Zoning) is seeking your ideas and suggestions to improve the Dane County Zoning Ordinance.

Zoning Task Force identifies 4 priority code changes

The Chapter 10 Task Force has identified the following 4 priority zoning code changes following public hearings held in January and April of 2010.

1. Consider amendments that address recent changes in WI Farmland Preservation Law ("Working Lands Initiative"). (Table ID #7 - 25 points)
2. Review and possibly revise Adult Entertainment Overlay District (sec 10.151 DCCO) (Table ID# 13 - 19 points)
3. Strengthen consideration of aesthetics in the building of communication towers / Require more stringent "collocation" requirements when siting cell towers to limit proliferation (Table ID#s 8/24 - 15 points)
4. Revise the zoning ordinance to address Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations ("CAFOs") (Table ID# 23 - 15 points)

The Task Force will begin working on the code changes in the coming months.

Current Zoning Amendment Priorities

The task force will be working to develop ordinance amendments for the following five priority revisions in 2009:

1. Expand LC-1 uses, including CUP for Limited Rural Business. (View draft of proposed changes.)
2. Develop an ordinance regulating wind energy systems.
3. Revise accessory structure regulation to eliminate differences between residential, agricultural, and farm accessory structures.
4. Revise commercial zoning districts including to support mixed residential / commercial uses and neighborhood-scale small business uses.
