Proponents of traditional neighborhood development, or what we term “Great Neighborhoods,” are often asked: “Is there a market for traditional neighborhoods?” To assist three “Great Neighborhood” projects in Dane County-in Fitchburg, Mount Horeb and Roxbury-Dane County contracted with Zimmerman/Volk Associates (ZVA), of Clinton, New Jersey to conduct a Target Market Analysis of the potential for housing in those neighborhood projects. ZVA applies a “Target Market Analysis” that analyzes geo-demographic and market preference data to paint a complete picture of the market. While the “Full Nest Suburbanites” may seek the big house with a big yard, the “Rowhouse Retirees” seek dense urban neighborhoods.
