General Application Instructions

Fill Out Application Form: You may submit the application information by computer to Dane County
Zoning and/or print out the application form. When you are finished, your application will be assigned a unique
Web Confirmation Number. (To print out completed applications, you must have
Adobe Reader installed on your computer.)

Come into the Zoning Office:
You or your authorized agent must appear in person at the Dane County Zoning office,
City County Building, Room 116, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
(View Map), to submit an application or obtain a permit,
which requires payment of a fee and a signature. Please bring your printed application information and/or
your Web Confirmation Number to our office for most efficient service.

Permit Issued by Zoning Staff:
Your application will be reviewed by Zoning Division staff, and may be accepted, or a permit may be issued
after all the information submitted is verified and any additional information needed is gathered. The amount of time
required for each application or permit approval depends on several factors, including the type and complexity of
the application.

Please note that Dane County Zoning does not issue permits (in most cases) for property located in any city or village.
Call your City or Village Hall for more information. A few areas of the County located within the towns of Vienna,
Westport and Windsor are under the zoning jurisdiction of a nearby city or village - Call Dane County Zoning
or the Town for more information.
