At approximately 10:50 pm on Wednesday, December 22nd, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Officers from the Town of Madison, City of Madison, Fitchburg and the WI State Patrol, responded to a disturbance involving 80 to 100 people at the Alliant Energy Center.
Last night’s Night Storm High School Dance event drew an estimated 1600 high school and college age attendees. Witnesses report the fight began inside the event, then moved into the lobby area of the Expo Center, and eventually outside into the parking lot. EMS also responded to the scene, but no one was seriously injured, and no one needed transporting.
In addition to the private security hired by the promoter, three Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies were working the event at the time the disturbance began. Deputies cited four people for Underage Alcohol Consumption. One of those cited, Favian Velasco, age 17 of Beloit, was also arrested for Disorderly Conduct and booked in to the Dane County Jail.
The Night Storm High School Dance Club is a traveling DJ and entertainment company that comes to the Alliant Energy Center every two to three months. It’s designed to give those under the age of 21 a club-like experience. Private security is responsible for screening everyone who enters the event.
