Lottery Credit
The lottery credit is a State property tax credit for people that own their primary residence.
Property owners are eligible if they owned a primary residence and lived there on January 1,
2009. The credit for tax year 2009 ranges from $70 to $100 depending on the school district
you live in. If you did not receive the lottery credit for 2009 taxes (payable in 2010) and
think you are eligible, you can still claim the credit from the Department of Revenue (DOR).
The DOR will send you a check for the lottery credit amount if you follow these steps:
-
Determine if you qualify by reading the
explanation of the credit.
-
If you qualify, fill out and print the
State required late claim lottery credit form.
-
Mail the form with a copy of your tax bill to the Department of Revenue by October 1, 2010. Do not send the signed
form to the county. The address is on the form.
-
4. If you do not have a copy of your 2009 property tax bill, please contact your local municipality
(city, town, or village)
Another way to check if you have a lottery credit is to go to accessdane.co.dane.wi.us,
search for your property, and if you do not have a lottery credit then follow the steps above.
