At Tonight’s County Board meeting, the Board will recognize March 2023 as Women’s History Month.  The resolution indicates that Women’s History Month has been celebrated annually since 1987 and is a month to celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.

Many women from Wisconsin and Dane County have been inspirations and leaders in women’s rights and their fields of study including Ada Deer, Golda Meir, Georgia O’Keefe, Vinnie Ream, Shirley Abrahamson, Velma Philips, Sau Lan Wu, and Eloise Gerry.

“I’m proud the Board will recognize March as Women’s History Month,” said County Board Supervisor Analiese Eicher (District 3).  “Women have contributed greatly to the history and success of progress in Dane County and Wisconsin, we will continue to overcome obstacles, and deserve recognition during this month and year round.”

The resolution also points out that gender parity was achieved for the first time on the Dane County Board in 2019.
