Deputy Attacked by Jail Resident

On Friday evening, July 7, a Dane County Deputy was attacked by a jail resident in the City-County Building.  The deputy had been interviewing a male resident in an interview room on the 6th floor of the Dane County Jail. During the interview, the resident attempted to take control of the deputy and threatened to harm her with a make shift weapon.  A nearby deputy was alerted to the situation and immediately responded to the attack. The two deputies along with other responding deputies were able to quickly gain control of the resident. He was secured in a segregation cell after the attack.


Two deputies were evaluated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.


Dane County detectives are investigating the incident and additional charges against the resident are pending.
