Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced that Darren Marsh, operations manager of the Dane County Parks Department since 1993, has been named interim parks director, effective upon the retirement of Parks Director Ken LePine on August 29. “We are very fortunate to have someone with Darren’s knowledge and hands-on experience take over during the transition,” said Falk. “I am grateful to Ken who has worked incredibly hard to make our parks the jewels they are today. Darren worked closely with Ken, and our parks continue to be in good hands.” As operations manager, Marsh runs the day-to-day operations at all 33 parks, including campgrounds, boat launches, ski trails and other parks operations. As interim director, he will oversee the county’s 7,000 acre park system, direct staff, and work with the Dane County Parks Commission. A graduate of UW-Madison in Forestry and Park Recreation, Marsh was the Parks and Recreation Administrator for the Jackson County Forestry and Parks Department prior to joining Dane County in 1993. Marsh, 39, lives in Stoughton, with his wife, Dawn, and children Bryce and Casey. # # #
