Madison WI 53711 Date /Time: Friday, April 30, 2:30 PM The Dane County Parks Department is sponsoring an Arbor Day Event to help recognize the efforts of the Dane County Tree Board, the first County Tree Board established in the State of Wisconsin. The Dane County Tree Board’s mission is to: ¨ Coordinate community forestry issues ¨ Develop comprehensive forestry policy recommendations ¨ Educate the public on proper tree management ¨ Seek public and private funding for community forest management ¨ Coordinate demonstration projects ¨ Integrate natural resource issues into local and regional planning efforts The Dane County Tree Board will be joined by members of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Service Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, a representative of the County Executive’s office and County and State Park personnel as they plant several trees near the entrance of Lake Farm County Park and the Capital City State Trail. The trees that are being planted are being recovered from a development site and transplanted to this new site. “Our different species of trees are part of what makes Dane County so beautiful,” said Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk. “Dane County was the first county to establish a Tree Board, and we’re proud of their important work, for instance, in combating oak wilt. Please join us on this Arbor Day to promote one of our greatest resources, our trees and forests.
