Dane County Secures Grants to Improve Services to Individuals With Disabilities in Dane County

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced today that Dane County has received three grants totaling $82,500 from the State Department of Health and Family Services to further enhance services to individuals with disabilities. “These grants will help us make the best match between individuals who have disabilities and those who care for them, assess the type of care people may need, and provide training for workers,” said Falk. The grants provide: · $50,000 to continue a registry that helps match workers with disabled consumers who need assistance. The grant also has dollars for training workers who care for these consumers. · $10,000 to develop a training curriculum for care workers that draws on the experiences of other workers and consumers. Community Living Alliance will be the lead agency in Dane County for the project. · $22,500 to conduct research on the need for nursing care of individuals with developmental disabilities in Dane County. “Dane County is widely recognized as the leader in Wisconsin in providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities,” said Falk. “Grants like these make it possible for us to build on that reputation, allowing our citizens with disabilities to live in their homes and communities whenever possible.” ###
