Mount Horeb Man Arrested for OWI in Vehicle vs. Utility Pole Crash/Fire

Madison, WI November 30, 2007 - At approximately 11:20 p.m., Deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, along with Mt. Horeb Fire and EMS, responded to CTH A and Dead End Rd. in the Town of Perry for a Motor Vehicle vs. Utility Pole. The vehicle and pole were engulfed in flames.
The male driver, and lone occupant, of the 2000 Dodge Ram appears to have gone off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was lodged against the pole and caught on fire. Roy R. Astle 61, Mount Horeb was arrested for OWI first Offense. He was transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital to be treated for 3rd degree burns to his legs.
Utility service was interrupted in the area for a short time in the area. Astle was wearing his seatbelt and Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.
