The busy spring break travel period, which hits its height this year from March 30 – April 8, is creating high demand for parking at the Dane County Regional Airport. The ramp and adjoining surface lot, nearest to the terminal, reach full capacity at times during this period and customers need to allow extra time for parking. The airport is building a second parking ramp this year to meet the increased demand. The electronic sign on International Lane, leading into the airport, indicates when the main lots are full. When these lots are full, customers are directed to park in the Economy Park & Walk Lot. A free shuttle bus is operating between the Economy Lot and the Terminal Building from 8 a.m. until the last flight arrives at night, at least through April 9. From now through mid-April, travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours prior to flight departure time to allow time for parking and security screening. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) also reminds travelers to “pack smart,” and to remember “3-1-1” when taking toiletries and other liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on baggage. Each passenger is allowed to carry through the security checkpoint small amounts of liquids, gels or aerosols, in containers of 3 ounces or less, that fit comfortably in one, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Only one bag per passenger is allowed, and it must be placed in a bin or on the conveyor belt for screening. Larger quantities of liquids and gels may be packed in checked baggage.
