DANE COUNTY EXECUTIVE FALK TO HOLD BUDGET HEARING
September 04, 2007
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk will hold her annual public listening session of the proposed 2008 Dane County budget from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10th, at the DeForest Community & Senior Center, 505 North Main Street, DeForest.
Falk holds the listening session every year in a different Dane County community so that the public can comment on county budget needs, priorities, and proposals. By county ordinance, Falk presents the budget to the County Board by October 1st. “A growing population and an economy with some weaknesses make for a difficult budget. It’s really helpful for me to hear what citizens need and expect from county government,” Falk said. She added: “Another big budget problem is the state Legislature’s refusal to pass a budget -- state revenues and costs have huge impact on the County. But that will not stop us from working on our budget in a timely and efficient manner.”
