CULTURAL AFFAIRS COMMISSION CALLS FOR ARTWORK

The Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission seeks artwork representing Dane County for its signature products: the 2010 art calendar and 2009 art poster and bookmark. The 2010 calendar will be the 11th edition and the 2009 poster the 28th in an annual series. Each year, nearly 10,000 calendars and the same number of posters are distributed throughout Dane County and beyond. They have become beloved icons that highlight the vitality of Dane County’s artistic and cultural landscape. Two-dimensional art in all mediums will be considered. Selections will be made from images submitted. Fourteen images will be chosen for the calendar and one image will be chosen for the poster and bookmark. Selection criteria applied by the Cultural Affairs Commission’s Art Advisory Committee include: artistic quality, representation of Dane County, market appeal, and illustration of the annual theme. Artists must be Wisconsin residents at the time of application and Dane County artists receive preference. Application deadline is September 1, 2008.
