Sheriff's Office

At 6:00 pm, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will welcome the Citizen’s Academy, class of 2008. Seventeen people are scheduled to start the eleven-week program tonight at the Public Safety Building located at 115 W. Doty Street in Madison. For the third year in a row, the Sheriff’s Office is inviting citizens to spend two and a half hours per week getting an inside look at law enforcement in Dane County. Participants will experience everything from a ride-along with the Marine and Trail Enforcement Unit, to a tour of the Dane County Jail, and firing a handgun at the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center. “I am proud that in Dane County we have the number of interested and involved citizens who will spend their valuable time to see first hand what the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office do for our citizens, and how each of them in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office can play an active role in keeping our communities and neighborhoods safe” said Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney. The group will meet every Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at various locations in Dane County. ###
