Madison—Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk reminds potential applicants of the Plant Dane! Grant program deadline of July 15, 2005. The Plant Dane! program is possible through a $200,000 gift from the Graham-Martin Prairie Foundation. Homeowners, municipalities, schools and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for a grant of plants or seeds to establish rain gardens or prairies in 2005. Businesses are not eligible. “Not only does this gift beautify Dane County’s yards and open spaces with native plants, but rain gardens help to protect our water resources as well,” said Falk. Grant recipients must attend a workshop to receive the grant. Grants will be awarded in the form of plants and seeds. No cash awards will be given. Projects must be completed in 2005.
