The Tenney Boat Lock will be closing for the season on October 2, 2005. Parks Director Darren Marsh stated that boat traffic using the lock facility between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona has dropped off significantly and it’s cost prohibitive to continue to provide continued service later into the fall. Boater’s may contact the Parks office for special accommodations for passage through the month of October or until the facility is winterized for the season. There will be a $25.00/hour charge for this service. Marsh also noted that based on user feedback the 2006 Lock Schedule will be adjusted to provide extend evening hours on weekends during the peak boating season. Lock hours for this last weekend of the season will be: Saturday, October 1, 2005 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2005 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM To make arrangements to pass through the facility or for additional information, contact the Parks Office at 608-246-3896.
