Dane County Regional Airport (DCRA) today (Dec. 1) launched the inaugural service of twice daily non-stop flights to Atlanta, provided by Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Connection Carrier. "This is a major benefit to our Dane County economy,” said County Executive Kathleen Falk. “Not only is Atlanta the gateway to the South, as the world’s busiest passenger airport it is quite literally the gateway to the world.” Falk said the addition of new non-stop service has been a priority of hers and of Airport Director Bradley Livingston. Non-stop flights to Washington, D.C. and Dallas were recently added, and service to New York LaGuardia airport begins January 9. William White, chair of the Dane County Regional Airport, welcomed Atlantic Southeast Airline executives at a ribbon cutting event launching the service today. Andy Gies, ASA Regional Manager attended on behalf of the airline. Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz offered remarks and members of the business community also were on hand at the event. White said business community involvement was instrumental in securing the new airline service and providing local marketing support. The Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce were part of a team working to secure local marketing support for the new Atlanta air service. Atlanta is home to the federal Centers for Disease Control, thousands of life sciences companies and headquarters of such major companies as GE Health Care, UPS, Coca-Cola, Equifax, Siemens, and Spectrum Brands. From Atlanta, Madison customers are just one stop away from destinations such as Honolulu, Tokyo, Paris, London, Buenos Aires or Moscow. Following is the flight schedule effective Dec. 1:
