Madison – County Executive Kathleen Falk today appointed Dane County Supervisor Patrick Miles to the Lakes and Watershed Commission. The appointment comes after Supervisor Bill Graf resigned from the Commission, as he is not running for reelection the Dane County Board this spring. Miles, of McFarland, was appointed last month to the Dane County Board, to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of former County Board Chairman Kevin Kesterson. “I thank Supervisor Graf for his outstanding work on the Commission. He has been a dedicated advocate for the protection of our lakes and streams,” said Falk. ”Supervisor Miles told me of his interest in our lakes, given McFarland’s special interest in Lake Waubesa,” said Falk. “I look forward to working with Supervisor Miles to continue this important work, and know he will be an important voice in this effort.” “I appreciate Dane County Executive Falk's confidence in my ability to work on these issues through the Lakes and Watershed Commission,” said Miles. “Our lakes and streams will only recover as a result of a comprehensive solution to the problem. It took years of abuse and neglect to get where we are; a quick fix isn't likely to solve the problem. I look forward to working with the commission to develop such a solution.” ###
