Madison – Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced a total of $140,000 in grants to help Allied Drive residents with child-care and economic assistance programs. Specifically, the funding will go toward three things: · Helping childcare providers who are currently certified, reach the next step, licensing. · Funding for Allied Drive families to help pay for childcare so parents can work or go to school. · To hire a full-time staff person to work in Allied Drive, helping families determine their eligibility for W-2, Medicaid, Food Share, childcare and other economic support programs. “This money will be used to directly help families build stable homes. It will go directly to families for childcare, to increase the number of licensed child-care providers in Allied Drive and hire a full-time worker to work in the neighborhood helping residents connect with W-2, Food Share, Medicaid and child care,” said Falk. The grants are from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development ($110,850) and the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services ($29, 955) and add to the staff time, grant funding and county dollars that the county has invested in the Early Childhood Intervention Program, which provides help finding jobs for new parents who live in Allied Drive. # # #
