Madison – Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced $78,789 in funding will go to the Town of Dunn, the Town of Pleasant Springs and the Town of Christiana to assist in the cleanup relief efforts. “It’s important that Dane County help these communities in any way we can, especially in light of FEMA’s decision not to assist our area,” said Falk. “County Executive Falk and her staff have done great work in reallocating these much-needed funds,” said Donna Vogel, the Clerk/Treasurer of the Town of Pleasant Springs. “We are grateful for this funding, which will assist the town in our recovery. We value our partnership with Dane County and other local municipalities.” In late December, Falk announced that funds would be available to help towns, villages and cities hit by the tornado pay for the debris removal costs. The funds were made available through the county’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which allows for some emergency relief funding. Late last week, the CDBG Commission met to review the applications. Three towns applied for grants and all received full funding. The recommendations are now subject to County Board approval and signature by the County Executive. The amounts are as follows: · Town of Dunn -- $55,194 · Town of Christiana -- $1,064 · Town of Pleasant Springs -- $22,531 # # #
