Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies were busy on local roads over the weekend. Wintry road conditions made for hazardous driving conditions, and resulted in numerous slide-offs and minor crashes. Deputies issued a total of nine citations for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) between Friday and Monday evening. On Saturday night, Ryan N. Fish, age 23 of Eau Claire, was cited for OWI-2nd Offense. When his responsible party arrived to take custody of him, Jason M. Ederer, age 19, had also been drinking and was arrested for Absolute Sobriety. Both men were later released to a responsible party. A traffic stop from Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrest of Michael W. Flietner, age 34 of Linden, WI. The stop was initiated when a Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy recorded Flietner driving at 106 mph in a 65 mph zone on US Highway 151. When the deputy made contact with Flietner, he was found to be intoxicated and was cited for OWI-1st Offense. In addition, a 9mm handgun was found in the vehicle and he was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was also cited for Speeding, No Seatbelt, and Open Intoxicants. In separate traffic stops, two juveniles were cited for Absolute Sobriety and six of their passengers were issued tickets for underage alcohol violations. All were turned over to their parents. During Monday’s “Zero in Wisconsin” patrols, a total of 65 traffic citations were issued during approximately 20 hours of enforcement time. The Sheriff’s deputies working this deployment was concentrated in the northeast part of the county. ###
