When the need for holiday giving is at an all time high, the volunteer work of inmates from the Dane County Jail, is a reminder of everyone’s ability to give back.
As part of the volunteer program at the Dane County Jail, inmates who have Huber and meet the requirements of the volunteer program are encouraged to work for local non-profit organizations. Dane County inmate volunteers have worked approximately 30,000 hours throughout 2008. During the holiday season they spend much of their time working for programs that make the holidays a special time for everyone.
Today and tomorrow inmate volunteers will be working at the Alliant Energy Center with the Toys for Tots program. This is the eighth year inmate volunteers have helped out by loading cars with gifts. The inmates will also be working through the weekend at various food pantries helping to distribute food and gifts to families in need.
