One Injured in Town of Springfield Crash

Madison, WI: At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Dane County Deputies, Waunakee Fire, and Waunakee EMS responded to State Highway 19 at Kuehn Road, Town of Springfield for a report of an injury crash. A 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by Brian L. Brey, age 41 from Plain, was traveling westbound on State Highway 19 approaching Kuehn Road when he lost control of his vehicle. He traveled into the eastbound lane of State Highway 19 and into the path of an eastbound 2007 Honda Civic operated by Michael R. Norin, age 32 from Waunakee. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and both vehicles air bags deployed. Norin was transported to U.W. Hospital via EMS for a serious leg injury. Speed and weather/road conditions appear to have contributed to the crash. This crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Dane County Deputies responded to approximately 25 vehicle slide-offs or non-injury crashes between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Three crashes resulted in injuries with the Town of Springfield crash being the most serious.
