New County Aid Program Helps Village Relocate Damaged Homes Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk signed a resolution today clearing the way for much needed county flood assistance to the Village of Oregon. The resolution, passed by the Dane County Board on July 16th, authorizes up to $167,000 in county aid to the Village to help with the purchase of a pair of homes severely damaged by floods in August of 2007. The dollars are the first used by a new Dane County Flood Damage Assistance Program created by Falk in the 2009 county budget. “Dane County is glad to help the Village of Oregon prevent costly damage from future floods and get these flood-prone properties out of harm’s way,” Falk said. “It’s been a great pleasure working with Village President Staton and the Village Board in providing this help.” The Village of Oregon is removing and demolishing homes on Florida Avenue located in the floodplain of the Oregon Branch of Badfish Creek. The site will be converted into parkland and the Village also plans to develop a bicycle trail in that area. # # #
