Dane County Board Chair Scott McDonell will make good on his friendly Rose Bowl wager tonight, donning an Oregon Ducks jersey sent by his counterpart in Lane County, Oregon for tonight’s County Board meeting.

“Fair is fair, and I’m a man of my word. I will wear that green and yellow gladly,” said McDonell. “I’ll also look at bright side -- some of our great local businesses will get some exposure out west, and maybe find some new customers.”

As part of the wager, Dane County has sent some of the best Dane County has to offer: fine chocolate from Candinas (, gourmet bratwurst from Bavaria Sausage Company (, and artisan cheese from area retailer Fromagination ( The Fromagination basket includes cheese, sausage, and chocolates from local producers such as Bleu Mont, Nueske’s Sausage, and Gail Ambrosius Chocolates.

“I want to thank you for the friendly wager on the Rose Bowl game,” said Lane County Board of Commissioners Chair Faye Stewart in a note to McDonell.“I’m looking forward to enjoying the fruits of Dane County. It’s great to be a Duck!”

“This is my second year in a row wearing another school’s colors,” said McDonell, who played varsity soccer for the University of Wisconsin from 1987-89. “But win or lose, I’ll always bet on the Badgers.”
