Dane County Regional Airport (DCRA) Makes Holiday Travel A Breeze

Madison, WI –  As the holidays kick off at the Dane County Regional Airport, here are few tips on how to make travel a breeze!

“Can I bring wrapped presents through security?” or “Can I carry Tom the turkey on the plane?” The Transportation Security Administration Website has answers to these and many more questions about traveling with food or gifts this holiday season at http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/holiday.shtm.

DCRA is busier around the holidays, be sure to allow extra time before your flight. If you park in one of DCRA’s parking lots, plan for the time it takes to find a spot to park and to walk to the terminal. Ticketing and security lines may be longer than usual, so plan accordingly.

Save time by printing your boarding pass before you leave for the airport and be sure to check if your flight is canceled or delayed to avoid an unnecessary trip.

Travel light.Lugging a heavy suitcase(s), especially in holiday crowds is very difficult and planes are usually crowded – so plan to check your bag to avoid the hassle.

If you are traveling with oversized items such as golf clubs, skis, or snowboards, check with your airline ahead of time regarding their requirements. Make sure that your items are securely padded and packed before you arrive at the airport.

Avoid packing snacks and bottled water, which add bulk to your already tight carry-on.  The Dane County Regional Airport has a variety of restaurants and grab-and-go food options.
