Citizens can now sign up to receive regular electronic updates on what’s happening in the Office of the County Executive and throughout county government, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced today.

Interested citizens can sign up for the newsletter through the County Executive’s website at www.countyofdane.com/exec/.

“Having an ongoing conversation with our citizens about Dane County government and the services we provide is important to me,” said Parisi.  “My e-news will not only help them stay in the loop, it will give people another opportunity to send me important feedback and ideas.”

Parisi’s e-newsletter is part of an ongoing process to make county government more accessible and user friendly in the year ahead.  Upon taking office, theCounty Executive initiated a thorough review of the county’s web-based services to explore what more can be done to improve online capabilities.

As a result,  in the near future citizens will be able to apply for county jobs online at the county’s website.  The County Executive is also encouraging county departments to explore website strategies to more effectively help the public access forms, information, and provide interactive feedback.

As Dane County Clerk from 1998 - 2004, Parisi worked to modernize that office, increasing transparency and accountability in elections.  Under his leadership simple but important changes that increased public access, such as providing online election returns in real time, and posting information on how to run for office on the web, were implemented.
