Thirty-seven grants made possible through public-private funds

The Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission announces the award of 37 project grants totaling $94,437 for community arts, cultural, and local history programs, and 3 capital grants in the amount of $5,505.  In the Commission’s second Grant Cycle of the year, county dollars combined with funds from Endres Manufacturing Company Foundation, The Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times, W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, and Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation will be matched by over $1.5 million from other sources.  Grant recipients can be found below.

“The diversity of this cycle’s grant recipients reflect Dane County’s strong and talented arts and culture community,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi.  “We’re proud to increase access to the arts for everyone in Dane County and support the individuals and organizations who contribute to our robust arts and culture economy.”

This year, Dane Arts will award almost $270,000 in public-private funds to nonprofit organizations, schools, individuals, and municipalities for arts, cultural, and local history projects and programs offered countywide.  Three 2013 grant cycles have application deadlines of February 1, June 1, and October 1.

In addition to the Cultural Affairs Grant program, over one year ago, Dane Arts launched a new initiative, power2give.org, an online cultural marketplace.  Having raised over $94,000 ($63k from donors and $31k from matching funds) for 95 projects from 959 different donors, this innovative tool complements the grant program and offers another way to assist the local creative sector in marketing and fund raising.
