Dane County Executive Joe Parisi issued the following statement following the conclusion of the Dane County Board of Supervisors’ committee work on the 2014 county budget.  The full County Board will consider the budget on Monday, November 18th.

“The budget adopted by the Finance Committee last night invests in the values of Dane County’s half-million residents – ensuring our kids and families have an opportunity to succeed, addressing mental illness in our schools, enhancing services to victims of domestic violence, and protecting our lakes and natural resources.

“Together, we’re making meaningful investments to address the achievement gap,  and youth homelessness – strengthening families and neighborhoods across Dane County.

“New partnerships will advance our work for cleaner lakes, enhance our parks, and create new trails – all to build upon our quality of life; keeping our county the absolute best place to call home.

“This budget is truly an investment in values – kids, seniors, and those who struggle daily to meet basic needs.  Through innovation and a continued spirit of cooperation we will accomplish great things in the coming year – all with the second lowest property tax levy increase in the past decade and a budget that projects the highest reserve fund county government has ever had.

“I want to thank Board Chair Hendrick, Personnel and Finance Committee Chair Corrigan, and the Dane County Board of Supervisors for their ideas, work, and collaboration on the 2014 county budget.”
