Dane County Emergency Management is hosting the National Weather Service’s Severe Weather Spotter Class on Tuesday April 23, 2019.  It will be offered twice, from 1:00-3:00 pm and again from 6:00-8:00pm at the Middleton Police Department (7341 Donna Dr., Middleton, WI).  These classes are FREE of charge and no registration is required.  The class will cover both storm spotter training and weather safety.

Severe weather is the most prevalent hazard in Dane County.  Being prepared for severe weather includes not only learning about what is in the skies, but taking action to prepare your household before severe weather strikes.  One of these actions should include learning about Dane County’s warning system and signing up for specific Dane County’s alerts at  https://em.countyofdane.com/warning .

Dane County’s Executive Joe Parisi said, “Increasing our knowledge of severe weather can help improve our safety as climate change continues to impact our weather and make conditions more volatile.  This class will help residents get a better handle on how to prepare when the National Weather Service issues advisories, watches, and warnings.”
