Wheels for Winners

2010 - $1,000 for parts to refurbish bikes donated for school-aged youth in the Madison district who work with experienced bicycle mechanics to restore them, and who earn a bike by completing 15 hours of community service.

River Alliance of Wisconsin

2010 - $415 for a pilot for statewide implementation, to purchase and install signage advising anglers about preventing the introduction and transport of aquatic invasive species at fishing easement access points along coldwater streams on various properties and easements, including ones held by the Wisc. Dept. of Natural Resources, Trout Unlimited, and Dane County.

Ice Age Trail Alliance

2010 - $1,428 toward equipment for building or upgrading significant sections of trails in Verona, Cross Plains and Brooklyn.

2008 - $3,989 for equipment to build and maintain Dane County segments of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and $764 for display materials promoting the special glacial features in the area.

2007 - $2,998 to purchace mowers for maintaining the Dane County segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

2009 - $1,461 for equipment used in the Audubon Adventures component of Madison School Community Recreation’s MAD (Making A Difference) Camp summer program for area middle school students, and $700 for expanding the bird mentor program through kits for hands-on bird identification and observation.

2008 - $4,990 for communication equipment to conduct safe and efficient prescribed burns, and equipment for controlling brush on 21 Dane County grassland and savanna sites that are accessible to the public.

2004 - $350 for equipment to help prepare soil for planting prairie around remaining remnant prairies.

2008 - $3,200 for signage and equipment used by volunteers to enhance water trails in Dane County.

2007 - $200 for shovels, rakes and trowels for use by high school students to plant native flora species in County conservation areas as part of service learning projects.

2005 - $300 for groups of 30 high school students to participate in the removal of woody invasives from conservation areas in the county and help restore prairie vegetation.

2007 - $300 toward binoculars, bird reference books and educational posters for avian ecology activity kits as part of their bird education program.

2002 - $450 to fund two training workshops.
