If your civic, church, learning, or social group or your organization is looking to host a presentation on a topic relevant to all, consider hosting a meeting focused on food! Our food system is complex and touches many aspects of our daily lives. With the current interest in buying local and eating healthy, there are a variety of issues the Food Council encourages you to explore. Food Council members and/or staff are available to present on the following topics:

  • Community food systems
  • The Dane County Food Council
  • Food Insecurity in Dane County
  • Dane County Agriculture

Other topics we encourage you to consider are listed below. We can assist by connecting you with farmers, urban planners, community organization leaders, marketers, and educators who can facilitate a discussion, make a presentation and answer questions.

  • Food production
  • Slow food
  • Food rituals
  • Health/nutrition
  • Food Safety
  • Creating healthy food habits in children
  • The fate of our farmers
  • Food justice
  • Sustainable food systems
  • Food access and security
  • Eating local

If you are interested in having a DCFC member speak or need assistance in locating a speaker for one of the topics above to your group, please contact Carrie Edgar at 608-224-3706 or edgar@countyofdane.com
