Orders Continued on Mendota, Monona and Waubesa; Lake Levels Steadily Falling

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Sheriff Dave Mahoney, and County Board Chairman Scott McDonell announced today the “Slow No Wake” order in effect for Lake Kegonsa will now only be in effect within 500-feet of shore.

County leaders issued a complete “Slow No Wake” order for Lakes Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa after record June rains caused a rapid rise in lake levels. Lake levels climbed again after heavy storms earlier this month. Since the orders were issued, lake levels have been monitored daily. Levels on all four of the lakes have consistently been at or above previous record highs.

The “Slow No Wake” order remains for Lakes Mendota, Monona, and Waubesa, along with the Cherokee Marsh.

The 500-foot “Slow No Wake” takes effect on Lake Kegonsa at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday July 22nd.
